Duties and responsibilities
The applicant’s main function will be to assist the Buyer with the following:
- Lead times of product
- Follow up on purchase orders
- Inform sales of ETA’s
- Obtaining quotations from suppliers
- Assisting with branch queries, including ETA’s from stock leaving Decanting and Cape Town
- Companion orders
- Buyer’s back up
Back orders: This function is important as it is the link between the Buying Department and the Sales Department. Once stock is booked onto the system the picking slips must go out in order for sales to invoice and the warehouse to deliver the stock to the customer. Constant attention must be paid to this process and liaising with Receiving and Warehouse is imperative. The responsible person has to be on top of back orders at all times to avoid delays and therefore irate customers and sales reps.
Required qualifications and skills
- Minimum Matric certificate
- 2 years Admin/Office experience
- Computer literate – Excel, e-mail, Pastel advantageous
- Good telephone etiquette
- Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English
- Can work under pressure
- Strong personality (dealing with suppliers, sales reps) and pro-active (able to multitask)
